Lisa and Garrett traveled with their guests to the Wawona Hotel in Yosemite for their destination wedding. I had the opportunity to meet with them months before their wedding and I was excited to see how all of their plans came together. Neither of them take themselves too seriously. Which is pretty cool when you know that they run a production company in Los Angeles. Together they are a mix of adventure and refined style, which is an accurate way to describe their wedding.
Lisa was preparing for the day at the Wawona Hotel, a Victorian style resort inside of Yosemite. The simple elegance of the hotel set in the rustic pines set the mood for the day perfectly. As soon as I arrived I noticed wedding guests taking in the grounds and enjoying the sunshine. When I knocked on the door of the hotel room of Lisa and her bridesmaids, Lisa came to the door and greeted me with a smile. Things were just starting to ramp up and they were getting ready for the ceremony that was only a few hours away. Yet even with all that was happening around her, Lisa remained calm and enjoyed every second of the day with her friends and family.
Their ceremony was inside the Yosemite Valley Chapel. It was officiated by one of their good friends, who also doubled as a bartender. You see, instead of having a unity candle they shared a unity cocktail mixed and shaken for them there at the altar. It’s just another of those ways that Lisa and Garrett made their wedding their own and their guests cheer.
After we photographed Lisa and Garrett with their families in Yosemite Valley, they joined us for the return trip to the Wawona Hotel. Of course, on the way there we had to make a few stop at some of our favorite places in Yosemite. Garrett couldn’t get over how beautiful his wife was. Talking with them as we traveled it was clear how excited they were to come to this point.
When we arrived at the Wawona Hotel, guests were already enjoying cocktails in the afternoon sun as they visited each other. Then Lisa and Garrett entered the Sunroom and the party kicked off as they went straight into their first dance. Shortly after that, dinner was served and enjoyed by all.
Just outside of the Sunroom, Katie was making sure to photograph everyone in our Photo Booth. It quickly took on a life of it’s own as the night moved forward. Between the dance floor, the bar, and the Photo Booth, Lisa and Garrett created an awesome party. To say that everyone had a good time under the Yosemite stars goes without saying.
As if all that wasn’t enough, the morning after their wedding Lisa and Garrett joined me for a quick day after session. Check back in just a few days to see a few unbelievable photographs from that session!
