People always ask us if we only work in Yosemite. It’s a reasonable question, as most (but not all) of the weddings we photograph are in Yosemite. But did you know theres lots of other beautiful places to explore just outside of Yosemite? So many of the beautiful things that Yosemite is known around the world for are also located just outside of the park’s boundary. But do you know what big thing isn’t located outside of the park boundary? Hordes of tourists.
Here’s a glimpse of Jennifer and Andrew’s engagement session from last week. We considered heading into the park for a hike on a well known (and crowded) trail, but instead spent a few hours exploring a nearly empty forest together just a few miles from the park boundary. Together they wandered through a Giant Sequoia grove, climbed on granite boulders, and watched the sun set across an empty meadow. The sounds of creeks and waterfalls were everywhere because there were no other sounds around. Not a bad way for two people to spend their afternoon together. It’s as if this is the way that nature was meant to be enjoyed.
