Ashley and Nathan

In the midst of their trip through Yosemite and before their dinner at the Ahwahnee, Nathan told Ashley about a spot he had heard about to watch the sunset. He explained that it wasn't a common spot to encounter other tourists and they'd likely have the entire place to themselves. Of course, this was all planned out ahead of time and I was waiting for them both to show up. When they first hiked out, the stopped and took in the spectacular view. Then, in a moment of complete surprise to Ashley, Nathan turned away from the view spread before them, dropped to one knee and pulled a ring out from his jacket pocket.

We stayed there until the sun slipped below the horizon and a full moon rose above Yosemite Valley. It really is an incredible location; to the East, Yosemite Valley lays beneath you, while to the West the horizon extends nearly to the Pacific Ocean. And at sunset, Ashley and Nathan were treated to a wash of colors, first on the peaks of the Sierra, then across the sky.
